The first step to living a healthy life is adopting a healthy diet. A basic human need is to nourish the body for survival. The human body requires the absorption of certain substances that are beneficial for development, and it requires the avoidance of certain substances that are toxic and harmful to the body.
We can see the body as an energy production factory. Food is what builds the factory and what sets it in motion to produce that energy. Foods are seen as the basic building materials of the body. They are also seen as essential factors in the process of producing bioelectrical energy in the body.
In nature, we have all kinds of foods, some very beneficial and some very harmful. It is everyone’s responsibility to choose the best foods to put into their bodies. This is how we can choose between having a beautiful, bright and resistant house, and having an ugly, degraded and rotten house.
The big problem in our society is the fact that we do not have a healthy education about food. Because of this, most people consume many toxic foods that seriously harm their health. In this way, many end up with all kinds of diseases, gain weight, age and decay faster than they should.
Society’s food consumption is directed by the food industry, which aims at monetary profit. The food industry wants to sell as many products as possible and to achieve this they use all kinds of addictive substances. These substances are usually very toxic to the body. Some examples of these toxic, addictive substances are sugar, gluten, sunflower oil, alcohol and various manufactured substances.
Through many advertisements on TV and radio, the food industry recommends many substances and many foods that are very tasty, but at the same time very toxic. These substances do not bring any benefit to the body and, even more, cause it to consume a lot of energy to release them from the body. Through this toxic diet, the body does not get what it needs and is emptied of its nutritional reserves.
One can clearly see the difference between a man who has a healthy diet and a man who has a toxic diet. That man, with the healthy diet, is seen to have a clean, healthy face that radiates with energy. And that man, with a toxic diet, is seen to be tired and his face looks aged and dark. It can also be seen how the mood and energy of the person with a healthy diet is very high, and the mood and energy of the person with a toxic diet is very low.
Those people who have an excessive carbohydrate diet, which contains many sugar products and refined grains, will develop a weight problem, and many of them will suffer from type 2 diabetes. Those who have a physically inactive life will be the most affected.
The body can feed itself from three primary sources of nutrition. These sources are called Macro Nutrients and are 1) Fats, 2) Proteins and 3) Carbohydrates.
The body uses these three macro nutrients to build and rebuild body parts and produce energy from them. Fats are mainly used for organs, cell membranes and hormones. Protein is mainly used for muscles, hair and skin. Carbohydrates are used as a momentary source of energy, or they are stored in the muscles as energy ready to be used in case of need, or they are stored in fat cells when the muscles are full and there is no need to consume energy.
The body can use two primary sources to create energy. The first and most common in society is the use of glucose (carbohydrates) and protein to produce energy in the body. The second way is to use fat to produce energy. Fat burning is much cleaner and more beneficial to the body. By using fat as the primary source of energy, the body enjoys greater energy and relaxation and stays young and strong for longer. By burning glucose as a primary source of energy, the body ends up being depleted and aged by the harmful by-products of this burning. These harmful products are called free radicals and have the effect of biologically oxidizing or rusting the body. In this way, man ends up aging faster and feeling tired and hungry all the time. He will always need food to feel energy in his body. This glucose energy lasts very little, and the fat energy lasts longer and makes the feeling of hunger disappear.
You can read more in the Diet section of the menu bar in the Ketogenic Diet article. There you will be able to find more information about the functioning of the body on fat compared to the functioning of the body on glucose (carbohydrate).
Basically, to have a healthy diet and life, you need to eat more healthy fats, protein in moderation and healthy sources of low carbohydrates.
Recommended foods are healthy fats in the form of coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, nuts, seeds, eggs, cheese, olives, avocados and fatty fish. Protein can be obtained from eggs, cheese, fish, nuts, seeds, soy and legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas and pods). The body does not need to feed itself with carbohydrates. He can produce himself the carbohydrates it needs from fat or protein. There are no so-called essential carbohydrates, just as there are so-called essential fats or so-called essential amino acids (primary components of proteins). But we need to eat carbohydrates in the form of healthy low-carb vegetables because they provide us with a wide variety of nutrition in the form of phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals. These are called Micronutrients and serve an important role in helping the body to build and repair itself, and to produce the energy needed for each day. These vegetables are cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage among others, and leafy greens such as lettuce, spinach, parsley, dill, etc. Mushrooms, peppers and other healthy vegetables are also recommended.
It is not an easy thing to be able to make the transition to a healthy diet. Due to the fact that we are used to (addicted) from a young age with these tasty and unhealthy foods, we will have some difficulty in completely giving them up. We will have to overcome this childhood addiction and we will also have to overcome the social pressure to eat them. It will be quite difficult to maintain a healthy diet surrounded by others who have a tasty and unhealthy diet. It will depend on each of us how much we want to achieve a healthy life using a healthy diet. With time and perseverance, you will succeed. It is possible that there will be some deviations from the chosen healthy diet, but the important thing is to continue and be persistent and that way you will get what you want.
I hope you understand that diet is very important in your development in life, and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do from now on.
