Cat Yoga is an agility class. The cat is one of the most agile beings on the planet and they were highly appreciated in ancient Egypt. The cat is an astral living being and has a special place in our human world. In Ancient Egypt Spirituality, Bastet is the Cat Goddess and she inspires others to develop their Cat Self. One way to develop your Cat Self is to develop your Cat Like Movement. The cat is an animal master yogi that combines high degrees of flexibility, mobility, strength, balance and speed. Combining all these qualities at the same time creates the overall agility. Cat Yoga uses postures that mimic the stances of a cat. The cat postures require a certain degree of spine and hip openness. The postures are the preparation for cat like movement. First you must be able to sit like a cat so you can move like a cat, and eventually run and jump like a cat. To be able to achieve this movement, you have to build a lot of muscle tension in the mobility of your movement.
Cat Yoga is a class for intermediate to advance Yoga practitioners. This is not a begginer friendly class. You have to have at least 1 year of personal regular yoga practice to come at this class. For this class, you are requiered to be already working for a while on developing flexibility, mobility, strenght, balance and focus within yourself. Cat Yoga provides the practice to work on them at the same time instead of individualy. If you lack practice and experience with your body and mental limits, it will be more difficult and unconfortable to do the practice. The Cat practice is mainly for Yoga Athletes, for Yoga Teachers, for Fitness and Sport Athletes, and for Dancers.
Cat Yoga means Union with the Cat. One way to help you connect more with your Cat Self is to dress yourself as a Cat. Cat Yoga encourages you to make yourself look like a cat, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the practice. A cat suit or cat like features are welcomed as they are ways of expressing Gratitude to the Cat Goddess Bastet. Bastet is the fitness trainer of the Egyptian Gods, she is in charge of training over your known limits.
Cat Yoga is being offered every Monday from 6pm to 7:15pm. The price of the class is £10.
